Wikipedia - Lohjan Pallo
Lohjan Pallo (abbreviated LoPa) is a football club from Lohja, Finland. The club was formed in 1966 and their home ground is at the Harjun urheilukenttä. The men's first team currently plays in the Kakkonen (Second Division). The chairman is Risto Tuomanen.
History
LoPa were promoted to the Kolmonen in 1976 and the club remained at this level until 1991 when they progressed to the Kakkonen (Second Division), the third tier of the Finnish football system. To date they have played 7 seasons in the Kakkonen over three periods from 1992 to 1994, 2000 and 2007 to the present.
Lohjan Pallo has a strong relationship with the other club from Lohja known as FC Lohja who play in the Vitonen, with the basic concept of sharing the pool of players available to the clubs. In 2009 FC Lohja were relegated from the Nelonen.
El LOPA fue fundado el 13 de febrero de 1927 por un grupo de estudiantes de secundaria. El primer partido oficial del club fue el 24 de junio de 1927, contra el Viipurin Palloseura. El LOPA perdió 5-0.
En 1945, el LOPA ganó su primer título importante, la Copa de Finlandia. El club derrotó al HIFK Helsinki en la final por 2-1. El LOPA ganó la Copa de Finlandia de nuevo en 1982, derrotando al FC Haka en la final por 1-0.
El LOPA ha jugado en la Veikkausliiga, la primera división del fútbol finlandés, en cuatro ocasiones. El club quedó último en sus tres primeras temporadas consecutivas en la primera división. En su cuarta temporada, en 1999, el LOPA terminó en el puesto 10º y evitó el descenso.
En 2000, el LOPA descendió a la Ykkönen, la segunda división del fútbol finlandés. El club jugó en la Ykkönen durante siete temporadas antes de descender a la Kakkonen en 2007.
El LOPA ha vuelto a la Ykkönen en cuatro ocasiones desde su descenso en 2007, pero nunca ha logrado mantenerse en la segunda división durante más de una temporada. El club actualmente juega en la Kakkonen.
El LOPA es conocido por su fuerte apoyo local. El club tiene una media de asistencia de más de 1.000 espectadores por partido en su estadio, el Lappeenrannan Kisapuisto.
